“Culture Night”
Culture night which is an event performed to find out
the culture of each region. we were also given a certificate as long as we were
teaching here.
From this event, I was able to find out many things that I did
not know. This program was a closing event as well as a form of gratitude which
was presented by traditional dances from the Philippines and Indonesia.
Because of My friends (Madeline, Anggia and Vivi) and
I were from Ambon, we presented Lenso dance as an opening in the event. Lenso
dance is one of the traditional dances from Maluku. This dance is usually
performed by female dancers using handkerchiefs as a characteristic and
attribute of the dance. it is often featured in various traditional and
cultural arts shows. This dance is interpreted as an expression of welcome and
a sense of joy in welcoming the guest. This can be seen from the expression and
smoothness movements, depicting politeness, respect and sincere acceptance of
love. Lenso dance performances are usually accompanied by traditional music
such as totobuang and tifa. But we use music that has been made.
Besides,
our friends who come from other regions, they also performed their traditional
dances. Dina, who comes from Kalimantan, performed the Enggang dance. Indri comes
from Padang performed the Pasambahan dance. Meanwhile, Beny, Riana, Fitri,
Nadia and Alfida from Java, they performed contemporary dance. 😊
“Culture makes people understand
each other better. And if they understand each other better in their soul, it
is easier to overcome the economic and political barriers. But first they have
to understand that their neighbour is, in the end, just like them, with the
same problems, the same questions.”
